Past Issues

To coincide with the publishing of our 500th issue in August 2015 we scanned the first two issues of the Link. Simply click on the covers below to view them. The first issue was very much a trial with no ads at all, but the second issue has a much more familiar look to it. At 24 pages they are around half the size of today's Link, but are an engaging snapshot of life in the village over 500 months ago.

We will carry on scanning issues as time permits - if anyone can help with this please let us know!

1984

By 1984 the issues had grown to 40 pages, with 10 pages of ads for local businesses and services.

The cover price had also doubled from 5p to 10p.

16 pages of local ads in a 44 page issue for 15p.

18.5 pages of local ads in a 44 page issue for 20p.

The increase in adverts enabled the cover price to be kept down so it remained affordable for as many people as possible.
